Back To School
I love the term back to school. It’s thrown around every September to encompass a feeling rather than the actual act of returning to education. This September I’m starting a new experience at college— so it’s still applicable to me, but I’m sure I’ll love it just the same 10 years down the road.
How comforting a theme to dream of a morning schedule, maybe a walk in the foliage, a hot drink, and pulling out a sweater.
And the style! Summer to Fall transition must be my favorite time of dress. There’s nothing like September to throw on a mini skirt and pair it with something warmer on top. Brands of course love this idea as well. Can anyone avoid their inbox being flooded with “back to school styles'“ and “back to school recipes”
Well if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! But I wouldn’t even want to beat them— I eat up anything that ushers in the fall.
On a side note it’s funny writing this post while being in a literature class. I can’t help but think of the term meta-poetic when writing this piece. I’m musing on back to school and now going to give you my inspiration (as I seem to do on this blog) for it.
Here goes nothing!
Imparfaite
My favorite French-vintage-store-that’s-nearly-impossible-for-me-to-order-from-because-of-shipping-price
I love it nonetheless! Imparfaite channels back to school wonderfully and sustainably. I’m seeing lots of trench coats from them and now really want to invest. Got extra time on your hangs? Take countless scrolls down their never ending website. But maybe find a friend to order with and split the shipping cost.
#Marciabradystyle
This was my fall era from senior year of high school, and she’s back for more!
I went down Instagram rabbit-holes of stills from the 70s show, each new shot I saw a gem. Normally I get inspired in a new way year after year, but Marcia Brady is here to stay. The collars! The minidresses! The Mary-Janes! Can it get any better?
Plaid!
From Shopbop
Can it get any more fall? I know, I know, plaid is revolutionary for fall but I do think it’s such a wonderful “neutral.” Here I’m sharing a dress I recently purchased. I can’t wait to wear it in transition weather and then pair it with a sweater.
Rory Gilmore
Although some critique her character, it’s hard to critique her style. There’s such a nostalgia to it that never quite gets old. I can’t even begin to describe all of her outfit inspirations but try some turtlenecks, school-uniform type looks, jeans and a henley, and maybe throw on a headband.
Sports Style
It might already be marked as a trend, but I’ve been seeing sportswear on the rise. Think of the sambas, jersey gear, and Adidas shorts. It can be elevated and playful! And if Ruby does it— it must be stylish!
I hope you all enjoyed these back to school takes!
