Hi

Welcome to A Goodinspiration. I document my travel, style, food, and inspiration. Hope you have a nice stay!

!Vintage!

!Vintage!

I cannot believe I haven’t touched on this topic yet, as it has become my latest obsession. Vintage clothing. Two words that would once inspire disgust in me now make my heart sing. Trying to track back to when this newfound love started, one finds themselves in February of 2021. Maybe it was the trend of dying slip dresses that brought this new type of style to my attention, maybe it was some sort of inner-nostalgia manifesting itself, but whatever it was, it found me right around my 17th birthday.

Since that promising month, I’ve found myself (probably spending too much time) searching for that golden nugget of a piece. The hunt is often more fun than the reward. Most of the time I don’t even end up buying all of these pieces that I find, but they truly lend themselves as inspiration. I remember audibly squealing when I found a vintage dress on Etsy a few months ago. I could feel the serotonin releasing in the presence of its beauty.

As much as a part of me wants to keep my vintage secrets to myself (but who am I kidding, nobody reads this blog!), I thought I’d share some favorite vintage inspiration

Eveliina Vintage

Eveliina, Eveliina the gateway to my love. I just love all of the dresses and wish I could have them all. Maybe you’ll find a lacy slip (their specialty!), a colorful step in, or a gauzy floral dress, which I was lucky enough to snag for my aforementioned 17th birthday. Eveliina Vintage will always be a favorite.

Kiko’s Closet

I found Kiko’s closet when I saw Saie’s vintage “merch” collection this past fall. I haven’t gotten anything from her yet but I adore her Instagram. She showcases herself dancing in her pieces— such a fun way to show off vintage!

Etsy

This suggestion could not get any broader! I could seriously spend hours on Etsy browsing through shops and varying my search words. One store that I’ve bought two pieces from is LuluBoop vintage. I’ve also found beautiful pieces from a variety of different store. As I mentioned before abut the depth of Etsy, sometimes it can get overwhelming. I recommend making an account so you can organize your finds, and I try to start with some search words that I know I like the results of. I’m giving away my secrets, but I love searching for a good 20s slip, Edwardian camisole, or 60’s mini dress. Some fun brands are Laura Ashley and Gunne Sax, but the sellers know that, too! Sometime’s you’ll find these pieces upwards of $500 and I find it silly that the past mass produced/department store clothing can sell for over 10 times its original price.

Well those are some of my vintage musings! What I search for truly ebbs and flows. I go through phases of what I’m looking for, and it’s often good for me to pause before I actually buy something. Sometimes the inspiration is enough!
