California Road Trip

California Road Trip

This post is from quite a while ago but I though I’d share it anyways! Over August I went on a road trip through California, from Calistoga, to San Fransisco, and Carmel. They were all so different but wonderful.

Our first stop was Calistoga. Nestled right above Napa, it was beautiful, but sadly the last day there was ash from the fires. We stayed at the Calistoga Ranch and the setup was the perfect combination of being in the mix of activities but having a private space. The lodge we stayed in was two rooms with an outdoor space between them. This place was my favorite. The meals were incredible and the weather was amazing because it got to the 90s in the day time and in the 50s at night. The wineries were everywhere and many of the restaurants were farm to table. Calistoga was a beautiful place to stay.

We then traveled to San Francisco which was like a mix of New York and Los Angeles. It had the similar style of city of New York, but the feeling of Los Angeles. I definitely prefer Los Angeles but it was very interesting to see San Francisco. We liked walking around the neighborhoods and and walking up the steep the hills (I got a leg workout)! We were able to go to the Museum of Ice Cream which was very cool. The most spectacular view would be driving over the Golden Gate and one of my favorite memories was looking over the bay.

Next we went to Carmel. It seemed like a pretty quiet town when we were there but the hotels and shops were beautiful. It was cold weather for swimming but still nice to look at the beach. We drove around Big Sur the day we were there and went to Napinthe, which was a restaurant with a great view, and the Julia Pfeifer Burns state park.

There are so many places to stop in California but I recommend these.
